Assessment and Reporting

At Rosehill Secondary College the purpose of our Assessment and Reporting policy is to identify and report on students’ strengths and weaknesses. Once these strengths and weaknesses have been identified our aim is to convey to parents and students ways of improving the performance of each individual student.

At all times assessment is to promote in students a positive attitude towards learning and to encourage students to achieve their potential.

Student’s progress will be indicated to parents via a range of written reports. Parents will also have the opportunity to conference with their child’s teachers, Year Level and Sub School Coordinators.

All students from Year 7 to 11 will sit a Mid Year and End of Year Exam. Exams at Rosehill are to provide students with the opportunity to practice sitting an exam and work through a range of study techniques so that when they sit their final exams at Year 12 they are fully prepared. Exams at Year 7 to 11 are not a means of passing or failing a unit of study, they are another way of showing the students progress in a faculty area.

All Year 12 students requiring an ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Ranking) will undertake the GAT (General Achievement Test) during the mid year exam period along with Accounting, Psychology, Biology, Physics and Chemistry students. To finalise the ATAR score all students will be required sit an end of year exam in all studies.

Parents requiring further information regarding their childs progress  are encouraged to make contact through the use of the College diary or contact teachers by phone to arrange personal interviews.

Rosehill Secondary College is accredited under the Department of Education and Trainings CRICOS registration (CRICOS provider name and code: Department of Education and Training, 00861K).
