As part of the Year 9 program at Rosehill Secondary College, students participate in an Interdisciplinary subject where they explore their personal strengths and weaknesses and work towards developing their teamwork, leadership and communication skills. As part of their assessment, our students organised and ran Rosefest (our school carnival) on Wednesday 22nd of March.

Our Year 9 students were given a few weeks to prepare everything from brainstorming their stalls, calling sponsors, designing signs and last minute problem solving. There were a wide range of stalls such as: BBQs, chips, kebabs, cake, slices, milkshakes, spiders, pizza, fairy floss, nachos, a raffle, coin toss, PS4 lounge, photobooth, hair braiding, a mural, dodgeball and pie the teacher.

In total they raised $4935 from the stalls and $852 from the Casual Clothes Day which will be donated to the following charities: State School’s Relief Fund, East Keilor R.S.L., Global Fund to Fight Aids, Cambodian Kids, Save the Children, World Vision, Challenge, Kiva, Sole Hope and Thankyou.

Dasitha Kuranaratne and his Pillow Knockout team also raised $1000 from the Lighting Partners Australia, $250 from Eagle Lighting Australia and $50 from Buckford Illumination Group all donated directly to Challenge Cancer Support Network.

We would like to thank the following businesses and individuals for their donations of money, goods and time: Allison Dunford, Essendon Football Club, David Georgier, Anthony Giurelio, Chris McConnell, Yenny’s Café, Hairhouse Warehouse Highpoint, Dusk Craigieburn, Timezone Craigieburn, Coles Taylor’s Hill, Woolworths Taylor’s Lakes, Woolworths Highpoint, Coles Essendon, Halls Taekwondo Tullamarine, Woolworths Braybrook, Woolworths Moonee Ponds, Meat Land Milleara Mall, Bakers Delight Milleara Mall, P&R Meats Airport West, Woolworths Sunshine, Keilor Continental, Bakers Delight Keilor Rd, Bakers Delight Keilor Village, Gallone’s Butcher, Boundy IGA Buckley St, Susan Page, Vanessa Stephens, Lyn Ryan, Nicole Fitzpatrick, Boundy SUPA IGA Keilor Rd, Mr Donut Mordialloc, Woolworths Watervale, HVP Electrical, Andre Botoulas, Angela and Nick Mavrakis, Paula Scott, Lieu Family, Du Family, Quach Family, Showler Family, Sivaraj/Phongkhamphia Family, LPA Lighting Partners Australia, Eagle Lighting Australia, Anthony Strangis, Amy Wright, Bocca Foods, Pizza Box Altona, Coles Altona Gate, Kmart Altona Gate, Coles Roxburgh Park, Foodworks Dinah Parade, Linens Unlimited Tullamarine, Bubble Cup Highpoint, Rosehill Art Department.
