The Term 3 break provides a valuable opportunity for students and staff to recharge, reflect and prepare for the final stretch of the year. With warmer weather arriving and daylight-saving approaching, it is also an ideal time to enjoy the outdoors and take a break from screens.
YEAR 12
For our Year 12 students, maintaining a consistent study routine while prioritising wellbeing is particularly important. Exam preparation is a marathon, not a sprint, and the work they do now will make a significant difference later. I recommend regular study sessions of approximately 2–2.5 hours, followed by an appropriate break. This will help students build the concentration and stamina required to sustain focus throughout their examinations. Families can support this process by providing a quiet study environment, encouraging healthy meals and regular hydration, and incorporating physical activity or exercise into the next six weeks.
PIVOT SURVEY
Over recent weeks, students have had the opportunity to complete the PIVOT survey during class time. The survey provides valuable feedback directly to classroom teachers, with the results then shared with each class. Staff are encouraged to work collaboratively with students to recognise what is going well and identify opportunities for further improvement. Thank you to all students who have taken the time to provide thoughtful feedback, develop their advocacy skills and take greater ownership of their educational experience.
YEAR 10 TASMANIA TOUR
At the time of writing, 30 Year 10 students and three staff members are travelling through Tasmania. This is a wonderful camp, and we are fortunate to have the opportunity to experience some of Australia's most spectacular natural environments. Reports so far indicate that students and staff are having a positive experience, visiting many of the major highlights Tasmania has to offer.
KOGAKKAN HIGH SCHOOL – JAPANESE SISTER SCHOOL VISIT
Ten students are visiting Japan and our sister school, Kogakkan High. Once again, the group appears to be thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to explore a new country, its cities and its culture. Many of our students are also famous with the local TV station in Ise Japan showcasing the visit to Kogakkan High School and in particular our students taking part in an official Japanese Tea Ceremony.
PARENT/TEACHER/STUDENT INTERVIEWS
On Thursday 3rd September, our Years 7–10 Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews were held, with families able to attend either onsite or online. It was particularly pleasing to have so many families attend in person. Regardless of academic performance, one factor we can all control is our effort and commitment. Success requires a positive, can-do attitude and a genuine resolve to doing our best. These are important work habits to reflect on when reviewing interim and semester reports, as there is often a strong connection between effort, engagement and academic achievement.
YEAR 11 PRESENTATION BALL
Last Friday 11th September, I had the pleasure of attending the Year 11 Presentation Ball. Congratulations to Mr Tetradis, who was instrumental in organising the event, and to Ms Aquilina, who ensured our couples were well prepared with all the right dance moves. It was a wonderful evening and, judging by the packed dancefloor, thoroughly enjoyed by all.
STAFFING UPDATE
On behalf of the school community, I would also like to wish Ms Shee every success as she begins a new opportunity in Term 4. Mr Murone and Ms Cerchiara will be covering Ms Shee’s classes for the remainder of 2026.
